At Appletree Hill, children learn through play every day — with skilled educators, outdoor exploration, and a parent community that helps run the kindergarten. Our 3- and 4-year-old programs are the heart of what we do.

No fees are charged for our standard 3-year-old and 4-year-old kinder sessions. That is possible because we take part in the Victorian Government Free Kinder program, which funds those hours for families. The program is government-funded; the culture and learning are shaped here by teachers and families.

What Free Kinder means for your family

  • Core sessional kindergarten hours are free for eligible 3- and 4-year-old programs.
  • You still enrol through Monash City Council’s Central Enrolment scheme (see Enrolments).
  • Optional voluntary contributions help us enrich the program — they are never required.

Voluntary contributions

If you choose to contribute, it helps us offer extras beyond the core program, such as:

  • Incursions and excursions that extend children’s learning
  • New books and outdoor play equipment
  • Other resources chosen with the parent committee for the children’s benefit

Any contribution is entirely optional and does not affect your child’s place or access to the program.

Programs & community

Session times and groups are on the Programs pages. Our parent committee helps govern the centre day to day.
